China has officially released the national standard GB/T 20234.4-2023, specifically establishing technical guidelines for high-power direct current (DC) charging scenarios. This standard aims to unify key indicators for high-power charging connection systems, including contact arrangement, cable design, and advanced thermal management requirements. It marks a significant leap for the electric vehicle (EV) industry into the era of megawatt-level supercharging.

The drafting of this standard brought together 25 industry giants, including State Grid, Huawei Digital Power, AVIC Jonhon, and leading domestic and international automakers such as BMW and SAIC. This cross-sector collaboration bridges the entire chain—from power grids and vehicle electrical architectures to underlying liquid-cooling technologies. These companies have overcome core pain points such as temperature rise control in high-current environments and cross-platform compatibility, ensuring the safety of high-voltage systems.

Geographically, the drafting forces are highly concentrated in China's three most innovative economic circles. Beijing leads with 7 core organizations, followed closely by Shenzhen and Nanjing, which leverage their deep R&D heritage in liquid-cooled supercharging modules and precision connectors. This highly concentrated industrial pattern reflects the high density and maturity of China's supercharging technology research and development.

GB/T 20234.4-2023 is not merely a technical specification; it is a blueprint for the next generation of ultra-fast charging ecosystems. With the standardization of high-power liquid-cooling technology, the industry will accelerate the large-scale implementation of megawatt-level charging networks. The deep synergy among these 25 core forces is driving the global new energy vehicle industry toward a more extreme and secure charging experience.
