MSI's Z890 MPG Carbon motherboard, supporting Intel's next-generation Core Ultra 200K processors, has been leaked, marking it as the second officially confirmed Z890 motherboard. While several manufacturers showcased their Z890 boards at Computex 2023, they were unable to explicitly reveal them due to Intel's restrictions. The first officially confirmed Z890 motherboard was the Biostar Z890 SILVER.
Intel's Core Ultra 200K processors, expected to be released on October 10, require the LGA-1851 socket, making the Z890 boards essential for pairing with these new CPUs. Many manufacturers are likely to announce their Z890 products around the same time.
The MSI Z890 MPG Carbon motherboard design closely mirrors the layout of its predecessor, the X870, with features like three PCIe x16 slots, 2.5G and 5G Ethernet, and Wi-Fi 7 support. The primary difference lies in the placement of the 8-pin power connector. Additionally, the Z890 board offers two Thunderbolt ports, while the X870 has only one USB Type-C port.
The X870 motherboard, designed for AMD Ryzen processors, is expected to launch on September 30, while the MSI Z890 MPG Carbon is slated for release on October 24, coinciding with Intel's new Core Ultra 200K processor launch.
